CALLING ALL BAJA HA-HA BOATERS, CUBAR CRUISERS, and SOUTHBOUND VOYAGERS!
Cruising is an exciting and challenging endeavor that boaters spend years preparing themselves and their boats to undertake. Although safety at sea is a chief concerns among cruisers, there is little research investigating ways mariners prepare to handle emergencies at sea and the types of injuries and illnesses they experience.
Be among the first boaters to contribute to research on preparedness, health, and safety among cruisers!
- Goal: Help future cruisers by sharing your knowledge and experiences!
- Who can help? Adult boaters who are sailing down the coast of Baja in fall 2015, including Baja Ha-Ha boaters, CUBAR cruisers, and mariners who are traveling independently (not as part of a rally).
- What do I have to do? Complete 2 online surveys, one before you leave San Diego and one after your reach Cabo San Lucas (or La Paz for CUBAR boaters). Each survey will take 10-20 minutes.

Who’s leading this project? Dr. Jessica Mackelprang is an Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Psychology at Seattle University and an avid sailor. She and her husband sailed their boat, The Red Thread, from Seattle, WA to Costa Rica last season and have plans to cross the Pacific in the spring of 2016.
