Inspiring Offshore Dreams with Music

After the summer rendezvous, I (Anita) commented that sing-a-longs lacked printed out words, except for the non-nautical songs that we used. Copyright issues were cited as a problem for not having printed words of nautical songs. I decided that if I could write our own Bluewater-themed song, we could print it and not have to worry about copyright restrictions. So, while on watch returning home from that rendezvous, I wrote a song.  My daughter took those words of mine and sent it through AI to put it to music.

I have shared it with some Bluewater Cruising Association (BCA) members but would like everyone to be able to access it, so Jay has posted it on our YouTube channel ^[1].

The words I chose were because I have heard over and over about people who have postponed their offshore sailing, stating reasons like needing to work a few more years to build the sailing kitty, or because of aging parents or grandchildren. The window of time to follow their dream never happened, and now they regret it as they are too old. There is a small window of opportunity to follow your dream. Don’t put it off. I hope that my song will be an inspiration to all dreamers, to get out there now and live your dream. The song states the values of our BCA club, and how the club helps us to learn, through its excellent educational component. I hope this song can encourage more of those members dreaming and wanting to learn how to fulfill their cruising dreams.

I presented the song at the Montague rendezvous, with the help of Heather Marshall’s sound system. Thank you Heather.
