Amid some lingering uncertainty of the COVID pandemic, BCA members Christine McGregor and James Layh set off from Stuart, Florida in June 2021 aboard their Whitby 42, My Destiny.
They made their way up the East Cost of the United States before turning around and heading for the Caribbean via Bahamas and Turks & Caicos. After sailing through the Eastern Caribbean, the ABC’s, Colombia, and the San Blas Islands of Panama, they crossed through the Panama Canal in May of 2023.
Combining passage preparation with time out for adventure in Panama and the Galapagos, Christine and James began their Pacific Crossing from Santa Cruz Island in January 2024.
Now, as they set their sights on exploring the rest of the South Pacific and Southeast Asia, it is with eyes wide open to all the possibilities and surprises that may present along the way.
