VI South Hybrid Club Night: Rowing Across the Atlantic for Marine Conservation

In 2023 Lauren Shea entered a trans-Atlantic race called “The World’s Toughest Row” with a team of three other women. They rowed for 38 days in a 28 foot ocean rowboat, placing first in the women’s class and raising over $260,000 for marine conservation initiatives.

Since good preparation is an essential part of any successful offshore voyage, the relevance and importance of Lauren’s presentation for blue water cruisers is hard to exaggerate! She will share the challenges of provisioning, shared leadership, boat repairs, navigation, communication, morale and living in small spaces for an extended period of time – this will be so much more than an incredible rowing experience!
