VI South Hybrid Club Night – The Long Road Home

David and Karon Wilson are rather unique – they spent many years in the Okanagan enjoying the lake in motorboats until 2003 when they finally decided to get into sailing. David eventually went east to look for a stout, offshore boat. He found the spacious, solid Freedom 45 that they bought, trucked to Anacortes, sailed home and named Ragtime. Upgrades occurred, they sailed her to Alaska twice and the next year, 2019, after enjoying the BCA Fleet Group here in Victoria, they sailed south down the coast. They joined the “Baha Haha Rally” to Mexico just before the Covid pandemic came along to ruin their plans of cruising on to the South Pacific. After five years of enjoying Mexico in spite of the pandemic, they decided to return home the hard way – straight up the coast. This is their story.
