Virtual Education – Weather Strategies for the Inside Passage

Spend two evenings online with instructor-extraordinaire, Kevin Monahan, learning about the unique weather patterns of the west coast and how to make decisions based on weather forecasts. BC coastal weather patterns are confusing if you don’t understand the basic forces that shape the local weather in the Juan de Fuca Strait, Georgia Strait, Johnstone Strait and the North Coast.  Once you understand the dynamics of the most common weather patterns that occur in the region, you can develop strategies that take advantage of them, thus having a more comfortable and less stressful cruise.

He knows these water as well as anyone can and is exceptional instructor as well. BCA has been fortunate to have him teach Basic and Advanced Radar, as well as Tides and Currents. He is author of: Local Knowledge: A Skipper’s Reference (Tacoma to Ketchikan) and The Radar Book: Effective Navigation and Collision Avoidance
