As tradition dictates, the December meeting of the Vancouver Fleet is always a social get together in the form of a pot-luck dinner. 2016 was no exception, and this anticipated event took place again just before Christmas, on a dark and cold winter night, at Cam and Marianne’s place in Vancouver. Being the gracious hosts that they are, they shared their home with all 2017 fleet members who attended and a few guests from previous fleets. I bet it is challenging for all visiting offshore sailors to adapt to the cold temperatures we are having this year!

The December Fleet meeting was a great success, with amazing food, great conversations about sailing options and technical aspects of adventuring offshore. There were many great stories about sailing in warmer climes and awesome opportunities to pick the brains of offshore sailors such as Gary Peacock and Karina McQueen of Sea Rover II, who were visiting back from Mexico. Always a treat to have these experienced sailors come and spend some time with Dreamers.

Among the visiting sailors, were also Lana Wong and Ken Robertson who were back from sailing in Mexico on Adios.

As usual, the food was delicious and everybody helped out, from welcoming guests to cleaning up at the end of the evening.

Great food and great company.

Great food and great company.

Once again, thank you to Cam and Marianne for hosting this annual event at their home. I am looking forward to the fleet meeting in January. Mark your calendars for January 24!
