On the evening of December 21st, in spite of Christmas preparations, pub meal delays, and road conditions we had 11 people join us in person and the gang of 11 on Zoom to hear Tony Gooch present his thoughts on preparations for Heavy Weather Sailing. Tony has been a perennial pillar of the Vancouver Island Fleet experience and he again demonstrated his skills at adapting to whatever challenges he faces including the usual vagaries like time constraints.
Adam Wilkins warmed the crowd up first with a Show & Tell topic we all love to hear about – head flapper valve failures – and his trick modification to help avoid some of the time required to address this maintenance issue.
After Tony’s presentation Rob Warren assisted Daragh and Al in a discussion of Offshore Sail Trim using our adaptation of Norm Cooper’s Power Point on the topic before we wished all Season’s Greetings and a safe trip home on the dicey roads.
