Vancouver Fleet Report – October 2026

The Vancouver Fleet met Wednesday evening, October 25, at the Scottish Cultural Centre. Our hybrid format accommodated in-person members as well as online members. The evening began with Show and Tell, announcements of the Trina Holt’s Weather Group launching November 3, and Jason Bowman suggesting interested members register for the Offshore Personal Survival Course or the Coastal Personal Survival Course.  In-person members enjoyed a wide variety of snacks as well as commuting adventures if they managed to get through snarled traffic from the north.

The Program Committee featured Rick Ellis of BCA’s Environmentally and Socially Responsible Cruising Working Group presenting research on Climate Change and, specifically, developing El Niño conditions. Rick looked at implications for local cruisers, boats headed to Mexico and boats headed across the Pacific. His notes and talk can be found on the BCA website under Responsible Cruising.

Our November meeting will be on November 25 featuring Stewart Jones of Pro-Tech Yacht Services explaining how best to prepare ourselves and our rigs for next season’s cruising.
