Vancouver Fleet 2026 – New Day, Same Time, Same Place

As the Bluewater Cruising Association launches its 2026 Fleets, it’s a great time to welcome both returning and new members of the Vancouver Fleet. Our mission remains as it has for decades: to build knowledge, share experiences, and foster community among sailors who plan to cruise locally and offshore. But this year, there are a couple of important change that long-time members will want to note carefully.

Meetings Now on the Last Wednesday of Each Month

After decades of meeting on Tuesdays, the Vancouver Fleet will now gather on the last Wednesday of each month at the Scottish Cultural Centre, downstairs in the Celtic Room. Meetings will continue to start at 1930h, the same time as in past years — so only the day of the week has changed.

The first Vancouver Fleet meeting of 2026 will take place on Wednesday, September 24. Mark your calendars and join us as we kick off a new year of learning, sharing, and camaraderie.

Back to In-Person Gatherings

Another exciting shift for 2026 is that Fleet meetings are returning to being in person. Since the pandemic, Vancouver Fleet gatherings have been online — but nothing compares to the energy of meeting face-to-face, exchanging ideas, and sharing stories with fellow sailors in the same room.

What to Expect in 2026

The Vancouver Fleet continues to deliver on its core goals:

  • Learning & Preparation: Monthly programs and workshops will cover topics such as safety at sea, sail repair, navigation, offshore communications, and more.

  • Equipment & Resources: We’ll maintain our ties with suppliers, seek out special offers for Fleet participants, and stay current on new gear and innovations.

  • Community & Connection: Nothing replaces the feeling of being among fellow cruising enthusiasts — sharing stories, supporting one another, and enjoying the adventure together.

  • Accessibility: Everyone is welcome — captains, mates, crew, all levels of experience. Whether you’re preparing for your first offshore passage or refining your skills for the next voyage, there’s a place for you.

How to Join

Joining the Vancouver Fleet is simple:

  1. Register via the Bluewater Cruising Association website.

  2. Pay the annual Fleet fee ($50.00), which covers all crew members.

  3. Show up to a meeting on a Wednesday — bring your questions, your stories, and your enthusiasm.

For more info, contact the Vancouver Fleet Coordinator (Marilyn Sanford) or check the BCA website where meeting dates and workshop schedules will be updated regularly.

We’re looking forward to an active, informative, and socially rich year with the Vancouver Fleet of 2026. Change in meeting day is a small shift — but we believe it will make a big difference in participation and enjoyment. Hope to see you at a Wednesday meeting soon!
