Vancouver Island Fleet met for their first meeting on December 14 at Campbell Good and Jennifer Handley’s home. There were 22 in attendance, representing 13 boats. We were thrilled that the place was packed and many people brought Christmas goodies which were gobbled up at break time.
Once we were able to get everyone’s attention, since there was a lot of catching up to do since having last met in the spring, we started the formal part of the meeting with Campbell presenting a VI Fleet burgee to Cathy. Pixie will wear it proudly.
We talked about the structure of this Fleet group being that we will meet face-to-face in various homes during the winter months and then once spring arrives we will be doing some boat visits as well. Fleet members are invited to share information or ask questions via the VI Fleet of 2026 email. VI Fleet members are also encouraged to join the hybrid Vancouver Fleet.
After introductions all around and sharing of email addresses we discussed some of the topics that people might be interested in learning about. We had a number of dreamers, doers and doners in attendance and if the discussions about technology and storm tactics that we got into are indicative of future meetings they will be lively indeed!
Our next meeting will be on Sunday, January 11, 2026, 1300h -1500h. It will include show and tell presentations, followed by a brief guest and/or member presentation, group discussion and plenty of time for socializing. We look forward to seeing you there!
If you are interested in joining the VI Fleet this year, please contact Cathy and Campbell.
