The talk will review how the oceans are changing as a result of climate change, El Niño, and marine heat waves, including the changes occurring in the Salish Sea, their impacts and how to think about and prepare for them. It will focus on the “mental game” – mental, psychological and emotional preparation. Rick will describe how climate change and heat impact cognition, aggression and stress. Understanding and adapting to these stresses, and the associated fear and grief arising as a result of climate change, can lead to increased resilience, hope, joy and greater well being while cruising.
