Welcome to the first Vancouver Island Chapter club night of 2o22, hosted by the Mid-Island group. Follow well-known BCA members, Mary Anne Unrau and Larry Roberts, aboard Traversay III as she sails from the lush and multi-cultural Cocos-Keeling Islands (the western outliers of Australia) westwards through the warm waters of the Indian Ocean to South Africa.
From Capetown, Traversay III travels to beautiful St. Helena Island, then crosses over the equator to St. Maarten and the warm oasis of Bermuda. You will find the islands are quite different when reached by a small sailboat, as compared to stepping off an airplane as a tourist.
Join Larry and Mary Anne on their trip halfway around the world, with all its accompanying dangers and excitements.
About the Presenters
Larry Roberts and Mary Anne Unrau have been sailing their Waterline 43 cutter all over the world since they first launched her 22 years ago. Since then they’ve circumnavigated the globe and sailed more than 120,000 miles together. They have crossed every meridian, sailed south to Antarctica, north to Spitzbergen, and squeezed through the ice in the North-West Passage.
