There were 14 participants at the April Vancouver Fleet meeting.
Show and Tell featured a visual by Kit on the importance of checking and changing anodes in the raw water system, while Jud offered points on the usefulness of a hard dodger and the process and complications of building one.
Lisa MacDonald described the PredictWind software, covering its value for offshore, as well as coastal sailing. The feature set was comprehensive. Fleet members attending were engaged and impressed with the depth of features. Lisa’s credentials are deep, having spent 25 years sailing professionally. She is recognized as one of the world’s most iconic female skippers. having competed in major events such as the America’s Cup and the Whitbread/Volvo Ocean Race, and has been a trailblazer for women in offshore sailing. She joined PredictWind as a trainer and a writer. Her enthusiasm and knowledge was appreciated by the Fleet. Before the meeting Fleet members met at Spruce Harbour Marina to tour boats with offshore experience including a 1986 Ted Brewer one-off, a 47’ steel Oceana cutter made in BC, a 1941 Ed Monk wooden ketch and a 1987 Hans Christian Christina.
The next meeting on May 27 will feature a presentation on electric power for boats.
