The September meeting of the Vancouver Fleet of 2024-25 on September 24 was a Zoom meeting. The program was a presentation from Heather Marshall.
From Oops to Ouch: a Cascade of Calamities
On May 17, Heather, while single handing in heavy wind, tore a foresail, wrapped a sheet around her propeller, overfilled her engine oil, almost failed to retrieve her anchor, and crashed on a rock, resulting in her first ever VHF distress call. Heather discussed how this day of misadventure played out, and how she dealt with it all.
Zoom opened early at 1900 hours to provide an opportunity for informal chat among members. It was an occasion for new Fleet members to meet up with others. There was a considerable amount of discussion.
The next meeting will be a Zoom meeting at 1930 hours on Tuesday, October 29. Again it will open at 1900 hours for an informal chat. The program will be decided by the new Program Committee.
The VIFleet and CalFleet will be invited to attend this meeting.
Heather, I would have loved to hear your presentation. Maybe you could talk to Peter when he returns and see if he could fit you in for a presentation at one of our club nights? I for one have not heard it yet.
PS We missed you at the Calgary BCA Rendezvous in Montague Harbour. Take care, Heather.
Bethanny
I “ditto” Bethanny’s request! Thanks, Heather!
As I’m sure you are aware Heather, we all see a serious addition to your trophy chest at the end of the year!
