Vancouver Island Fleet Report: December 2016

On December 7, thirty Vancouver Island Fleet members attended a presentation on Offshore Sail Trim and Techniques by Connie and Daragh. The Weather Group reviewed the first of their Virtual Passages : “Tonga / Fiji to New Zealand”.

Presentation topics for January 2017 will include:

  • January 11th:     Weather Routing Services and getting Forecasts at sea by Simon Walker.
  • January 25th:     Heavy Weather Sailing, Wind vanes and Auto pilots by Tony Gooch.
  • January 28th:     Rigging issues and Assessments  by Blackline Marine, Sidney.

We hope to see all the VI Fleet attend and Happy New Year to everyone!

Connie Morahan has been a BCA member since 2000. She cruised the Pacific Ocean with Peter McMartin over a ten-year period, returning to BC from Japan in 2012. She served as VI Fleet Coordinator for 5 years, has participated in the BCA mentorship program, and is a member of the Environmentally and Socially Responsible Cruising Working Group.
