Jordan and Judy Mills left Victoria in September, 2009 on their 35 ft. Cutter, Sea Turtle IV, for what they expected to be a five year west-about circumnavigation.  Nearly 10 years later, in July 2019, Jordan and Judy finished their 50,000nm + circumnavigation and arrived back in Victoria Harbour to a warm welcome by many BCA members and friends.

We are pleased to have Jordan and Judy come to Vancouver to present their best photos and a summary of ‘the best’ of their travels from Victoria to the Mediterranean as well as an overview of the last leg of their circumnavigation – the more well-documented Mediterranean, Atlantic and back to Victoria.

According to Jordan and Judy, “We were not sailors until we left Victoria. But we were BCA members a few years before we left and had taken most of the courses. We bought our boat about 3 years before we left and did an extensive refit and outfit for offshore”.

Our circumnavigation took us down the coast to Equador, then out to Easter Island, then back to South Chile, back north to Galapagos, then west-about, hitting places like French Polynesia and the string of South Pacific Islands, down to New Zealand, up over the top of Australia, through Indonesia, spent about 2 years in and around Thailand. Then we went west around Sri Lanka, across the Arabian Sea and through the Red Sea and Suez. Cruised the Med, then crossed the Atlantic,  through the Caribbean and Panama Canal and at that point, crossed our track to make it an official circumnavigation. From there, we harbour-hopped all the way up the coast to Victoria.

We did a lot of inland travels in various places, mostly on motorcycles we either bought or rented, travelling the Andies and down into the Amazonia, then all around southeast Asia and up into the Himalayas.”

What a great journey they had, with lots of ‘off boat’ adventures, as well nautical ones, which they will share with us.
