Vancouver Club Night – Coming Home: Mexico to Vancouver via Hawaii

While many couples opt to ship their boats home from Mexico, BCA members John and Geraldine Guilfoyle took the leap into the Pacific and hitched a ride on the trade winds to Hawaii before embarking on the long tack home around the Pacific High. Glitches abounded en route as they sailed Sea Reach back home, proving that if ‘ain’t broke –just wait.’

Join us to hear about the ultimate ‘buddy boat’ experience between Puerto Vallarta and Hilo followed by a month in Hawaii to recuperate and tweak things. The upwind return trip was marked by mostly smooth sailing with a short handed crew of two, proving that there is nothing like a long passage to prepare you for a long passage!
