Fiona Garforth-Bless, a nurse from Bragg Creek, AB, was a crew member aboard the Henri Lloyd, a 70′ yacht skippered by Vancouver sailor Eric Holden and winner of the 2014 Clipper Round the World Race. Fiona will explain the ‘Clipper Race’ and talk about her experience transitioning from a casual coastal cruiser to racing across oceans on a 70′ yacht. Fiona and the five other Canadian crew of the Henri Lloyd were also honoured by Sail Canada as recipients of the 2014 Gerry Roufs Trophy for international sailing. The award is presented to the those whose achievement in international offshore racing has had significant impact on the recognition of sailing in Canada.

Here’s the CBC article about their win, with a great pic of the Henri Lloyd sailing under the Tower Bridge in London: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/b-c-s-eric-holden-skippers-winning-clipper-race-yacht-1.2705274
