The Calgary Chapter invites everyone to this Zoom-only club night.
Mae Jong-Bowles and her husband Marty have been foraging along our coast for many years. They have enjoyed catching and gathering their seafood, harvesting seaweed, sea asparagus, bull kelp and contributing many beautiful posts to the popular ‘Cooking on a Boat’ Facebook group. They find a variety of sources (sometimes from abandoned homesteads), enjoy seasonal fruits, and forage for mushrooms and other fungi.
In Mae’s words: We feel we’re the luckiest people on earth. It was the best decision to sell our house and live on our sailboat for the last 10 years. Our motto is “Home is Wherever the Wind Blows Us.” We’re gypsies on the water, which is why we named our sailboat Wind Gypsy. We have travelled the coast from the BC/Alaska border to Port Townsend, Washington.”
Join us as Mae describes how they safely and responsibly forage our abundant coasts, prepare, store and serve these treats! Please bring your questions; we look forward to an informative and inspiring talk.
NOTE: If you did not receive an email with the Zoom link, check the BCA website calendar for details or contact Calgary Communications.
Looking forward to the February 6th club night, Calgary Chapter. What can be better than food, boats, and coastal explorations in one presentation?!?
