Bjarne Hansen
Making Power at Sea

This 3 hour seminar course is for any cruising crew, not just skippers, wanting to learn more about marine systems for electrical power generation and storage.

It focuses on safety, theory, and best practices to help you understand, select, and troubleshoot the major electrical generation and storage components seen on sailboats. The lecture portion uses slides and several show-and-tell items to present the material in a non-intimidating manner with many examples.

Particular topics include:

  • solar panels and charge controllers
  • lead-acid and lithium batteries
  • alternators
  • power budgets
  • measuring instruments
  • troubleshooting approaches
