The pursuit of offshore voyaging is the pursuit of a dream for most of us. This course explores the many motives, desires and challenges inherent in the voyaging dreams, and as we pursue the challenge to explore the oceans and cultures of the world, inevitably we explore ourselves through our responses to the situations we encounter. Part of preparing for voyaging is preparing ourselves psychologically, and part of voyaging is becoming the adventurer we dream to be.

Hi David; yes unfortunately this does happen on occasion despite good intentions. I see that the Safety at Sea seminar in Vancouver is sold out, but there will be one in Victoria in spring – depending on which course you are interested in 🙂
Unfortunately we will be off sailing by then… I actually thing the psychology course is more important at the moment!
My wife & I took this phsychology course a couple of years ago and it WAS fun and VERY helpful during our first long trip (4 months in 2017) on our 34 ft sailboat, to Alaska.
It gave both of us the tools to help each other rather than THE OTHER. People ask us “are you still married? LOL LOL” The instant answer is always “YES, it made our relationship stronger”.
It is probable that this weekend session with Rick was one of the most helpful and significantly appropriate we have ever attended! No couple should even think of venturing offshore until they have completed this course!
