In 2013, Vincent Delongne sailed his Nonsuch 30 Hinterhoeller north to Alaska and returned. Despite years of planning, he was nervous as he departed: over 1000 miles to go each way, enormously complex coastline, myriad islands, reefs, rocky shoals, currents, wind, fog, rain, very few towns, lots of decisions to make on route. Sailing mostly solo, Vincent went up the Inside Passage all the way to Glacier Bay, then down along the outer Alaska islands, over to Haida Gwaai and down the west coast of Vancouver Island. Needless to say, three and half months later when he sailed back home he was much more confident! His pictures document his passage route, anchorages, welcoming harbours, wildlife, art, and the friendly people met along the way. Come along for a ride through some of the best sailing in the world.
