The February VI Fleet meeting on Sunday Feb 9 was attended by 11 people, and guest Dr Catharine Ascah. Group conversation focussed on potential medical issues at sea and how to deal with them. One member shared a personal story about a medical incident – with a happy ending – that happened at sea off eastern Australia. Catharine also shared various documents with the Fleet, including:
- Dealing with Marine and Saltwater Infections
- Dental Preparation and Emergencies for Bluewater Sailors
- WCB – Treatment Guidelines for Marine Puncture Wounds
Show-and-tell items included the “world’s smallest personal locating device”, an Ocean Signal, Rescue Me MOBI, a reference map of Oceania: The Pacific Islands of Micronesia, and a built-in safety whistle on a backpack.
Coffee, tea and goodies rounded out a busy afternoon.
The next meeting of the VI Fleet is Sunday, March 9 at 1400h. Please contact the VI Fleet Coordinator, Campbell Good, if you would like to join this group.
