Twelve sailors from seven boats were in attendance on October 2 to hear about the learning experiences of six seasoned cruisers in the second meeting of the V.I. Fleet this year.
Bjarne Hansen and Barb Peck developed a very comprehensive discussion of many crucial topics relevant to our group from their Pacific wanderings. Michael & Ann Hartshorn then discussed their travels from the U.K. to the east coast of North America including their travels up the East coast USA and down into the Caribbean; then on through the Panama canal up the west coast and, this year, to Alaska and back. Their Contest 44 is larger and more complex than the vessels Bjarne and Barb choose to venture in so they had a different perspective for the group.
The night concluded with Don and Heather Cudmore discussing their trip down the Pacific West coast to the Sea of Cortez and various experiences that informed them and adapted their approach to cruising offshore.

Very interested in this group, we live in comox till mid Jan when work is done and full time live aboard our Beneteau 423. We are sailing south after the van boat show. We haven’t been able to attend these meeting but might be around soon.
