Abandon Ship: Stay Alive in Your Life Raft

All is lost!  Your boat is sinking and the unthinkable is happening.  You must abandon ship.  Now what do you do? Join instructor Captain Jim Steele, CD, for classroom and pool-time to find out.

Classroom topics covered will include:

• What to pack in your ditch-bag
• How to increase your chance of survival and rescue
• How to use a life raft
• How to live in a life raft
• How to use rescue equipment
• How to use signalling equipment
• How to be rescued by a helicopter

Practical learning in the pool will include:

• Swimming  in your clothing and foul-weather gear
• Deploying your personal floatation device
• Deploying a life raft
• Boarding a life raft in wet foul-weather gear

This course will confirm that you will never want to find yourself having to abandon your vessel, but should that happen, you will know what to do.  The day will conclude with a welcome de-brief in the hot tub.
