VI Education
This course is designed to provide all the information needed to obtain a Basic Amateur Radio Certificate and call sign. Prospective amateur radio operators are examined on their understanding of the key concepts of electronics, radio equipment, antennas, radio propagation, radio frequency safety, and the radio regulations of the Canadian government. The exam is a multiple choice exam administered by an Accredited Examiner. The pass mark is 70%. Students achieving 80% or higher will be granted Honours on their certificate, which will allow them to use additional frequencies.

Instructor
Les Dawes, Vice President of the Cowichan Valley Amateur Radio Society, has an Advanced Amateur certificate and has been licensed for about 5 years. He has taught approximately 24 Basic Ham courses during the last few years, with a student pass rate of approximately 90%.
