VI South Club Night – 5 Years Sailing the Sea of Cortez

BCA VI South is pleased to invite you to our February hybrid club night!

Neil and Cheryl Turner bought their boat in San Diego in 2017 and, with the help of two experienced captains, sailed down the coast to Cabo San Lucas in seven days, almost non-stop. They rested in Cabo, then sailed north up the inside of the Baja to La Paz, and eventually across the Sea of Cortez, docking in marinas and anchoring in hundreds of beautiful bays over the next five years.

Both had experience with boats, but NO adult sailing experience except with the local Turkey Head racing group, a couple of regattas, and their ASA seven-day onboard training—on location in La Paz, Mexico.

Their presentation will be chock-a-block full of information about their 42’ 1991 Hunter Passage CC and cruising life in Mexico.  Neil and Cheryl retired a bit early to live their dream. They had a five year plan and are delighted with their experience. They are happy to answer any questions you may have, to the best of their ability.

Hybrid Meeting Format

In-Person Attendees:

• For those attending in-person, the format will be very much the same as “normal”
• Doors open at 7:00 and meeting starts at 7:30.
• Cost: $5/Members, $10/Non-Members

Virtual Attendees: 

Virtual club nights (via Zoom) have enabled BCA to continue our monthly meetings and presentations throughout the pandemic, with an added bonus of expanding our community to members and non-members across the globe.  With the return to in-person meetings BCA has continued to provide a virtual component to our club nights as it has significant benefits to our membership. This however comes at a cost for the purchase of cameras, audio equipment and the lost revenue due to a decrease of in-person attendance used to off-set venue costs.

• Please note that you must be signed in to the BCA website to get the member price. We are not able to provide a refund for those that do not log in.
• Cost: Members – $5.00 per connected device; Non-Members, $10 per connected device.

Note: Due to the small cost of virtual tickets, and an equal or greater cost, to BCA, of issuing refunds, no refunds will be issued unless the Chapter is unable to deliver the presentation via Zoom.
