BCA-Wide Virtual Club Night – A Family of Five on a Seven Year Loop Around the Pacific

Calgary Speakers Watchkeepers Ted and Pam would like to welcome you aboard as we host Max and Elizabeth Shaw.

Raising a family is filled with joy and challenges. Have you ever considered what it would be like to supervise chores, homework and activities while sailing the high seas? Well wonder no more as Max and Elizabeth enlighten us with their wisdom, travails and celebrations!

Max and Elizabeth spent most of their adult lives in the Canadian Forces, but after 23 years decided they needed a new adventure, and one they could share with their family, so they sold their house, purged their possessions and went sailing with their two young children.  They have spent the last seven years traveling some 36,000nm in the Pacific with what is now their family of five.  Both Max and Elizabeth started their sailing with the RYA while in the UK.  Max is a Sail Canada Advanced Cruising Instructor and holds an RYA Yachtmaster Ocean/200 GT Master of Yachts certificate.  They now run Fluenta Marine Services helping others prepare for their own adventures.
