Curious about your boat’s energy needs and your personal carbon footprint? This two-part Zoom workshop on November 6 and November 13, between 1900h and 2100h with Don Chandler will help you analyze and calculate your energy use—onboard and in your lifestyle—and explore practical alternatives to reduce your impact. Part 1 covers a typical sailor’s energy analysis; Part 2 focuses on participants’ own data, trade-offs, and what-if scenarios.
About the Instructor
Don Chandler has been sailing since 1989—first racing, including the Vic-Maui, and later cruising the BC coast and Alaska over the past fifteen years with Leslie Hansen. A long-time innovator in clean technology, he converted a gas outboard to electric in 2005, followed by a small truck in 2008, and was among the early adopters of electric vehicles in 2014. He has also played a key role in shaping government policy by helping to remove barriers to EV adoption. Today, his passion is advancing zero-emission sailing and sustainable boat design.
