Intermediate Marine Diesel

Attendance at a prior BCA Basic Diesel course or a good basic knowledge of diesel engines is required.   This course is intended for those who own and maintain their own power or sail boat, or those who want to gain a better understanding of diesel engines, including proper operation and maintenance. Topics covered include:

• Review of fuel, cooling and lubrication systems
• Electrical system: batteries, alternators, AC chargers & inverters
• Battery servicing
• Various charging systems
• Drives: straight drive, v-drive, sail drives
• Shaft seals

Instructor

David West is a highly experienced and knowledgeable diesel mechanic and instructor who comes highly recommended by a number of women who have attended his courses. He is also a sailing instructor.
