Description

The Marine Basic First Aid course is a comprehensive, two-day course designed to meet the needs of those expected to provide first aid in a marine environment. The course uses a combination of lecture, discussion, and scenarios taken from the marine/fishing industry to teach the required knowledge and skills. The course meets the requirements of Transport Canada outlined in Transport Canada Publication (TP) 130008 E.  BCA members and non-members are welcome to register.

Instructor

Vital Link Ventures, established in Victoria in 1993, provides Specialized First Aid Training courses to private groups as a training partner with the Canadian Red Cross.  The instructors delivering the classes are from the emergency services field including police, fire and ambulance.

Lead Instructor Trainer, Kevin Cleaver, was the former training supervisor for the Victoria Branch of St. John’s Ambulance as well as a practicing paramedic with the BC Ambulance Service. While transitioning into a full-time career with the fire department, he established Vital Link Ventures. Initially Vital Link Ventures provided training courses to the Canadian Coast Guard and local Municipal Police departments. Now they deliver over 100 courses per year by a trained team of instructors with extensive experience in the emergency services field.
