The movement of water under the influence of the tides is a constant factor in the lives of boaters, especially on the BC Coast, where some of the fastest tidal currents in the world may be found. The Inside Passage has a unique water system where the tides power strong currents around the islands and in many of the key passes. But a good understanding of tides and currents can mean the difference between a smooth ride and a rough ride for a captain and crew.
The seminar includes a section on ocean currents, non-tidal currents, wind and wave and shallow water interactions. For a full list of topics covered and to register, please check the Bluewater Cruising Website.
The course is presented in a graphic and interactive manner. Though the specific focus is on the West Coast, it is applicable to tide and current regimes world-wide.
