When Pamela Bendall first discovered El Salvador as a solo sailor aboard her sailboat Precious Metal in 2011, it was love at first sight. It’s like Mexico was 50 years ago: simple, inexpensive, safe, and the people are so sweet and friendly. Pamela had been involved in coordinating Sailfest (educational fundraiser) in Zihuatanejo, Mexico for the previous 3 years and always returned Precious Metal to northern Mexico waters for Canadian summers. El Salvador is also where Pamela and her partner Henry fell in love 14 years ago, and it has been their base ever since.

EL Salvador has never experienced a hurricane. It is centrally located between Pacific Panama, southern Mexico and northern regions of western South America. It serves as a terrific base in all directions and is home to a wonderful community of boaters.

The first 45 minutes of the presentation will take the audience from Zihuatanejo, Mexico south through Acapulco, Huatulco and Chiapas, Mexico. We will cover weather trends, check-in/out protocol, costs and local logistics, as well as some highlights of El Salvador.

Part Two will take the audience eastbound to Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Western Panama and to the Canal. Questions are welcome throughout the presentation.
