Morgan, Mel, Isla, and Pippa Finley embarked on a 40,000-nautical-mile journey in March 2020, departing from the UK. Sailing aboard their Moody 44, Swift, they navigated through the French canals into the Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific. Their adventure brought them to the Solomon Islands, where they faced a dwindling number of routes back home to Victoria, BC.
Join us as the Finley’s share their less-conventional route home, highlighting some of their favourite cruising lifestyle moments and destinations from rarely cruised countries, including Papua – New Guinea, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan.
They will also recount their journey through the cold and challenging northern Pacific, venturing to the westernmost Aleutian Islands—close to Russia and at the edge of the Bering Sea—before heading eastward toward home. Only a handful of cruising boats navigate the north Pacific route from Asia to North America each year, and for the Finley’s, this marked the most demanding passage of their four-and-a-half-year adventure.
