It has been a long-standing practice that Currents rewards its authors. Any Bluewater Cruising member who writes articles for Currents can receive credits toward their annual membership fee. I am pleased to announce that the incentives for writing have been increased in several ways.
Key Changes
Members can now accumulate up to $90 of credit toward their membership dues (previous limit was $70).
Credit amounts are still based on the length of an article but we are now also recognizing shorter contributions and have increased the amount of credit at each level.
Incentive Levels
200-500 words (telegram ) – $5
501-1000 (postcard) – $10
1001-1500 (short article) – $20
1501+ (long article) – $30
(Note that long articles may be split into two, but will still count as one article and receive no more than $30.)

As I reported at the 2024 AGM, fewer than 5% of our members write articles. I have no doubt that many more have stories to tell or wisdom to share (content guidelines and other information found here). I hope that these increased incentives will inspire more members to contribute to our magazine, and will encourage those who have already written, to continue doing so.
